SMALL ANIMAL COMMUNITY PRACTICE CLINIC

The Community Practice Clinic of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital serves residents within a 30-mile radius of the College [click here for a map and directions]. The Clinic provides our veterinary students with a unique opportunity to experience the operation of a private veterinary practice within the confines of their college coursework.

The clinic's normal operating office hours are from 8 a.m. - Noon and 1 - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For an appointment, please call our main appointment line: 706.542.1984. Before your appointment, please download a client information form [coming soon] and have it filled out when you arrive. This will save time at your appointment.

During the Community Practice rotation, students gain experience with clients who expect quality routine wellness care for their pets. The rotation provides students the opportunity to experience veterinary care in the setting of a private practice, and prepares them for joining a similar practice upon graduation.

The Community Practice Clinic Main Entrance

The community practice clinic (also called the Small Animal Outpatient Service) was operated out of the main teaching hospital for many years. As our caseload increased, there was less and less room, and thus longer waits, for our expanding client base. Remodeling a behind the main hospital gave this service the much-needed space to expand, and the new clinic opened its doors in the spring of 2006. The Behavior and Dermatology services also relocated to the new building.

Treatment for minor injury or sickness
Nutritional consultation and pet food purchases

Behavior disorder diagnosis and treatment
